Items
The level an item asks for
Every piece of equipment carries a level requirement, and where it comes from depends on the kind of item:
| Item | Its level |
|---|---|
| Potions, healer's kits, thieves' tools, keys, torches, books, blank scrolls and wands | none - anyone may use them |
| Nordock gear | always 30 |
| A socketable item | whatever the gems in it add up to - see Sockets |
| A sequencer robe | 10, 20 or 30 by its grade |
| A spell scroll | the caster level of the spell on it |
| Everything else | from its gold value: the lowest level whose value ceiling covers it |
An item can also carry a level set by hand, and that one overrides all of the above.
The kinds of gear
The game labels equipment in six ranks - generic, brilliant, Nordock, socketable, purple and legendary - and the trade post filters on them. Mounts, pets, skins and gems have tiers of their own instead.
Vengeful
A vengeful item is an ordinary one that has been given an extra property, or had one of its properties improved. It can be applied to any equippable weapon or piece of armour, and rerolled afterwards.
It cannot be applied to a purple, legendary or brilliant item, to a torch, to a sequencer robe, to a crafted item, or to a stack of ammunition that is not full.
What counts as end-game gear
Five kinds, though the first two start turning up long before the end:
- Brilliant items - quest rewards, from the first levels upward.
- GTS crafted items.
- Nordock craft items.
- Socketable (green) items - see sockets.
- Legendary (purple) items.
They come from Castle Glendario - the epic zone - from dungeon and raid loot, and from quests.
Sequencer robes
A sequencer robe stores spells and fires them back later. Two limits are worth knowing before you buy one: epic spells cannot be stored at all, and to fire a stored spell your own level must be at least the level that spell needs - a 9th level spell needs character level 17, whoever put it in there.
What items carry between characters
An item is yours: nothing is bound to a character, and the vault moves anything between the characters on your account. Gems are the exception - they leave the item behind and live in an account-wide pool.
Every item worth having
The full list of gear at tier 2 and above - 540 items with their quality, their kind, what each one does and whether the vengeful ladder accepts it - is on Items of tier 2 and above. It is built from the module's own blueprints, so it cannot fall behind the game.
