Events
Happy Hour
It starts by itself at weekends, at two set hours of the day, and runs to the end of that hour. While it is on:
- experience is raised by 20%
- the chance of a unique creature goes to 10%, from the usual one in fifty
- vengeful items come up more often
It is announced when it starts and when it ends, and the staff can start one outside those hours.
Time trials
The staff can put a dungeon into event mode. While that is on, finishing a run puts your time on a leaderboard, and the fastest run wins. The clock is the score: it is shown as minutes and seconds, and it starts when the run does.
A run scores once, when it is finished. Nothing you do inside counts on its own - not kills, not objectives, not items - and deaths are not counted at all, neither against you nor for you.
Whose time it is
The board ranks parties, counted by account rather than by character:
- Two characters belonging to the same person count as one member of the party.
- A party running alone is a party of one, so a solo run competes with the rest.
- Running it again improves the row your party already holds rather than adding a second one.
- The row shows the character that submitted the time, and the size of the party beside it when there was more than one of you.
Everyone bound to the run counts, including somebody who died or logged out partway.
The board on screen
While an event is running you get a small board: the top five, and your own row below it, highlighted. The full leaderboard holds fifty places.
| Command | What it does |
|---|---|
-hud | hide or show the top list |
-clock | hide or show the run clock |
-cls | open the full leaderboard |
An event announces itself to the whole server when it starts, warns twice before it ends, and posts the final standings. The same three moments are posted to Discord, along with an updated table whenever the top ten changes.
Getting into an event dungeon
An event can carry restrictions, and they are checked at the door.
- A limit on how many players a run may have. It counts everybody who has ever been in that instance, so six at once and six who rotated through are the same six - people who left still count. You are never refused from a run you are already part of; start your own instance instead.
- A maximum character level.
- A restriction on the gear you may bring. The staff pick one rule from a list, and the rules differ in how far up the quality ladder they let you go - some also block vengeful items separately, and some allow better gear as a weapon and ammunition only, not in your other slots. Every item you have equipped is checked, and a single one that breaks the rule keeps you out until you take it off.
- A different cooldown on the dungeon, which can be shorter than usual or none at all.
DM events
The staff also run events by hand, with teams. A death on an event team is not an ordinary death: there is no corpse, no penalty, and you respawn at your team's point - sometimes after a set wait.
World bosses
A world boss can be summoned into the open world. The summoning is announced, and the boss arrives about five minutes later. See Bosses.
